I just read that in 1790 William Gregor discovered manaccanite, now know as Titanium at Manaccan, Lizard
It's new snippets of information, like that, which give me such a thrill. I never knew it and it's only a handful of miles from my ancestral stomping ground about 7 or so miles from here.
the food was delicious as always and both came with bowls of side salad as seen in the mackerel shot below.
The Salmon Pasta was £7.95 (approximately $16) and the mackerel £8.95 (approximately $18), should you wish to know.
To try to help deal with the grief we did what many Cornish people do and went for a "stank around" in our case "a stank around Sennen Cove to have a bit look".
Above are photos taken on a day which saw sunshine and beaching on one side of the county and heavy rain on the other. I think the clouds add depth and above is a typical example of a Cornish seaside scene.
I do realise how blessed we are to be living in such a beautiful part of the world.
This next bit is almost like one of those QotD, where someone comes out with something you'd never suspect.
In my 43 years of waling the planet I had never visited Sennen Cove! Oh what a beautiful location I have been missing.
Seeing ociphant's post about streets not being made of gold in London it reminded me of an evening last week.
I was driving along in what seemed like a snowstorm the other evening; it was in Trengrouse Way in Helston, a nearby town. The cause was a stiff breeze stripping the cherry trees of blossom. I don't know whose idea it was to plant a line of cherry trees down both sides of the road but it is beautiful. I missed the optimum time for the blossom on the trees but here is the aftermath. Somewhat poingniant, as a reminder that we are all here but for a brief time.
The bus started in Penzance and is just entering the village of Marazion, where just off the shore lies St. Michael's Mount, originally a counterpart to Mont St. Michel in France.
